How can I develop my character strengths and PERMA, and integrate these qualities into my learning - specifically, in this course this year?
To begin, I find it difficult to list reasons of how a majority of my character strengths (according to the UPenn Strength Survey) may benefit me in this course, such as kindness & generosity? or modesty and humility? I can definitely develope these by continuing to be all of the above, and strive to become even kinder towards everyone around me.
However, I believe that if teamwork plays a relatively significant role in my happiness, or PERMA, then one way of developing this specific aspect of my character strength would be to frequently engage in collaborative projects or assignments. If another one of my strengths relate to 'fairness, equity, and justice' - meaning I value equality and justice in society, - then selecting a topic to work on that is somewhat relevant to those ideas may help develop my character strengths as well. Being able to talk, present, or even compose an essay about topics that interest me may help me better prepare for life after school. For example, if I learn to persuasively express my thoughts or perspective on a certain issue or topic coherently, I can utilize my experiences and ability to do so in, for example, a courtroom with an arraigned man seeking justice, or addressing a speech to a general audience about equality, human rights, or something of the sort. In other words, I believe that through certain projects and/or assignments in this course, I can better my ability to justify a situation.
Regarding my 5th character strength, leadership - I don't quite agree with that as much as the survey does, therefore, I don't think I can effectively develop this certain character strength as well as the others.
